About the Department

The first women's college in the District of Purba Medinipur, Mahishadal Girls' College, was established on 1st August, 1969 with an aim of imparting higher education to women and to uplift and enhance their status. The college attracts a considerable number of female students not only from Purbo Medinipur, but also from the adjoining districts. With the demand of time, Computer Science was introduced in our college on 23.06.2006 as a general subject. Next, the college got the affiliation for Computer Science honors from 19.06.2009. Initially, the department was running with the help of part time teachers and guest teachers. From 22.12.2016 onwards department has one permanent teacher, recruited trough CSC. There are also one part time teacher and two guest teachers. We have separate software laboratory and hardware laboratory. Both the laboratories are well equipped and ICT enabled to ensure the delivery of quality education.

1. Providing quality education to enable the generation of socially conscious software engineers who can contribute to the advancement in the field of computer science and engineering.

Mission

1. To equip the graduates with the knowledge and skills required to enable them to be industry ready.
2. To train socially responsible, disciplined graduates who work with good leadership skills and can contribute for nation building.
3. To shape the department into a center of academic and research excellence.
