Welcome to Mahishadal Girls' College
The first women's college in the District of Purba Medinipur, Mahishadal Girls' College, was established on 1st August,1969. With an aim of imparting higher education to women and to uplift and enhance their status, many local affluents viz. Late Dr. Satyendranath Bhunia, M.B., Late Rabindranath Singha, late Dr. Haridas Sarkar, Late Gopal Chandra Mondal et al. took this glorious initiative. The college started its journey from a rented building in Rathtala, Mahishadal with a modest number of staff members and students. In 2003, the college was shifted to the picturesque surroundings of Rangibasan, about 1km away from its previous location. Previously, in july 1969, the college was affiliated to the University of Calcutta. Presently it is under Vidyasagar University.
The college attracts a considerable number of female students not only from purbo medinipur, but also from the adjoining districts. The college is well known for its brilliant academic results, strict discipline and various extra curricular activities. Since its commencement, Mahishadal Girls' College has proved its extra ordinary standards with an unique blend of academics, cultures, values and discipline. The college guarantees absolute attention and dedication towards an all round development of the students into responsible future citizens of our country.
