Introduction

The college library first started in 1969 in the old Rathtala campus with a few number of books and a single staff. It was shifted to the new campus at Rangibasan in August 2003. At that time, it functioned from a single room in the ‘Science Building’. Library shifted to the newly constructed ‘Vivekananda Pathbhaban’ in 2013. At present, the Library building is two storied and the total area of the Library is 7342 sq. ft. The first floor contains the Library Reception Counter, the Library stock, OPAC Searching Zone, Circulation Counter and Acquisition & Processing Section. The second floor contains Reading Room, E-resource Searching Zone and the Library Meeting Room.

Collection:

  • The total stock of books is over 19,600.
  • There is a Book Bank collection in the Library for the economically backward students.
  • There are 16 manuscripts which have been catalogued by the Asiatic Society, Kolkata on behalf of the National Mission for Manuscripts.
  • Library subscribes to 14 renowned journals.
  • There are 02 newspapers and 11 periodical publications including 07 career guidance periodicals.
  • There is a collection of books to help students in their career advancement e.g. books for preparation of NET, SET examinations and competitive examinations.
  • There is a Local Area Collection in the Library consisting of books and other documents on various places of Medinipur district.
